Location: Oakland, CA Category: Faculty Posted On: Wed Dec 6 2017 Job Description: The Department of Psychology at Mills College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Adjunct Professor of Psychology specializing in cognitive neuroscience. Mills College offers unique opportunities for students to collaborate with or work alongside faculty in laboratory research. The successful candidate will have substantial teaching experience, a proven track record of mentoring and working with undergraduate students in a liberal arts college, and the demonstrated ability to develop courses that incorporate theory and research in the applicant’s field of expertise within a global context. The Assistant Adjunct Professor will be responsible for teaching five courses per year plus advising and departmental service. Courses may include two lower division courses, introductory level psychology and psycholinguistics; and three upper-division courses, cognitive neuroscience, physiological psychology, and perception. Applicants are welcome to submit ideas for other courses in their specialty area.
This is a one academic year renewable contract position to begin in August 2018. Job Requirements:Candidates should have:
- A Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or a closely related field
- Extensive undergraduate teaching experience in the areas listed above
- A commitment to undergraduate advising
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work with a diverse and dynamic student population
Additional Information:This is full-time exempt position. Salary is $60,000 per year, and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403(b) retirement plan, 12 sick days and 10 paid holidays annually.
